President's Message

From Bonnie Vande Velde

The holidays are coming fast and furiously!  With shortages being reported on everything we want and need for our holiday gatherings it is certain to produce an added level of stress over not finding what we usually have readily available.  As we gather with friends and family lets do all we can to be the peacemakers, listeners, the voice of wisdom, the positive influence, etc.  But above all let’s remember to be THANKFUL!  We have so many things to be THANKFUL for:

  • We have survived Covid, and many other health issues and we are alive to celebrate with our loved ones!  We have a purpose to fulfill because we are here!
  • Our loved ones have survived and are here with us to celebrate the holidays with us when so many people did not survive.
  • We have men and women who serve our country and us to protect us and our free enterprise system and who lay their lives on the line every single day for our benefit and comfort, while they sacrifice the holidays with their own families.
  • We have businesses that have survived Covid and all of the economic issues that came with it.
  • We are blessed that we can still gather as a group, support one another, and continue to grow our businesses.
  • We live in one of the best countries in the world, where we are free to think, speak, and do what we feel is best for us and our children.
  • We live in beautiful homes large enough to accommodate our families and friends for the large gatherings.
  • We have beautiful vehicles to take us wherever we want to go and see whomever we want to.

This is the short, high-level list.  I would encourage each and every one of you to make a list of all the things you are truly thankful for and have the courage to post the list at your Thanksgiving gathering.  I put mine on the refrigerator because my granddaughter can read now, so I can count on her to find it and share it with the entire group that will be at my house!

I pray that all of you have a very blessed and successful Thanksgiving holiday and I truly hope that giving of thanks consumes your entire month or even your entire year!

Respectfully in service to WBO,

Bonnie
